Working in the mental health field in Nashville for over a decade-and-a-half now, I have gained experience in a variety of clinical settings and developed expertise in treating depression, anxiety, addictions, and other issues. In addition to my clinical practice, I am also a published author, adjunct assistant professor at Vanderbilt University, and have spoken both nationally and internationally. Below, you can read more about my background and you’ll also find links to learn more about my research, writing, and teaching.

I am a licensed professional counselor and hold a PhD in Religion, Psychology, and Culture from Vanderbilt University. I have worked for nearly 17 years in Nashville, TN in a variety of clinical settings. While currently maintaining a full time private practice, I have previously held positions in Vanderbilt University’s Psychological and Counseling Center, Vanderbilt University Psychiatric Hospital, and Cumberland Heights Addiction Treatment Center. I am also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Human Development and Counseling program where I teach graduate students in courses such as “Counseling Diverse Populations” and “Addiction and the Human Services Professional.” In addition, I have offered clinical supervision to training therapists for over a decade.

I regularly give clinical presentations and speak on my academic research for national and international audiences. A published author, my work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals and my current book project will be published in late 2018/early 2019 with University of North Carolina Press. You can read more about my research and writing by clicking here.

Aside from my professional background, I am committed to service work in my personal life. I am, for example, an active board member of Nashville’s Jewish Family Services. I have called Nashville my home since moving here as an early teenager. I'm happy to have been part of the Nashville community almost my entire adult life except for the years I attended New York University’s film school for my undergraduate education. I continue to frequently work with creative people in my private practice including with musicians and artists.
